Snead State Community College Recognizes Student Achievements

Snead State Community College highlighted the end of the Spring semester with special recognition of student achievements. Students were honored during the annual Awards Day ceremony at Snead State Community College on Thursday, April 14.

Snead State Community College Vice President for Student Services Jason Cannon presented the President’s Awards, on behalf of President Dr. Robert Exley, to a student majoring in an academic field and a student pursuing a technical field of study. The Academic Award went to Dylan K. Shadinger of Albertville, and the Technical Award went to Susan A. Driskill of Crossville.

The Dean’s Award, presented by Dean for Liberal Arts and Student Success Dr. Annette Cederholm, was given to Destiny H. Coleman of Scottsboro.

Other award recipients included:

•Accounting – Erin Kilpatrick of Boaz.
•All-Alabama Academic Team members – Dylan Shadinger of Albertville and Bailey Morton of Altoona.
•Business – Sarah “Abby” Hawkins of Guntersville.
•Computer Science – David Adelman of Boaz.
•Economics and English – Michaela McGuire of Attalla.
•History – Shayan Pramani of Gadsden.
•Mathematics – Sophomore Award: Wesley Burns of Boaz. Freshman Award: Jewellia Ard of Albertville.
•Music – Most Improved Musician: Rebekah Currier of Union Grove. Best All Around Music Student: Courtney Lee of Boaz.
•Nursing – Highest GPA for Nursing Assistant: Myranda Rice of Warrior; Highest GPA in First Level RN: Paula Porter of Albertville; Highest GPA in Second Level RN: Brandy Ross of Boaz; Clinical Excellence First Level: Betina Thompson of Rainsville; Clinical Excellence Second Level: Michael Maharry of Attalla.
•Political Science – Austin Minor of Boaz.

Some students continuing their education at other institutions were awarded scholarships. The scholarship recipients included: 

•Auburn University – Courtney Childers of Attalla, Tristan Delgado of Attalla, Dalton Forrester of Geraldine, Allene Howe of Guntersville, Jonathan Johnson of Arab, Courtney Lee of Boaz, Brandon Matthews of Gadsden, Bailey Morton of Altoona, Madison Ray of Boaz, and Logan Ridgeway of Arab.
•Athens State University – Taylor Hogue of Guntersville, Brent Brackett of Boaz, Amelia Bautista of Arab, Jennifer Clark of Guntersville, Courteney Griffin of Union Grove, Armando Mendoza of Albertville, and Arianna Patterson of Attalla.
•University of Alabama – Jillianna Boyd of Albertville, Brooklyn Brothers of Horton, Taylor Camper of Guntersville, Clayton Cox of Guntersville, Sierra Croft of Guntersville, Abby Hawkins of Guntersville, Douglas Howard of Boaz, Seth Rains of Albertville, and Diamones Spraggins of Decatur.

Several organizations were also recognized for their hard work throughout the year. Those clubs included Phi Beta Lambda, College Bowl, Student Government Association and the Fishing Team, which won Club of the Year.
