Snead State Community College President Dr. Joe Whitmore recently accepted a unique opportunity to speak with leaders at the Barnes and Noble Corporate Management Team Conference.
“The focus of my presentation to the management team was on how best to serve students as well as cost containment and using technology to deliver educational resources to students,” said Dr. Whitmore.
In addition to his 45-minute presentation, Dr. Whitmore had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Barnes and Noble CEO Michael Huseby and Vice President Brian Stark.
“There was also a roundtable discussion the next day based on many of the topics I addressed in my presentation, including how to reach non-traditional students who may not be familiar with or comfortable with the use of electronic alternatives to textbooks and educational resources.
“I appreciate the opportunity to speak with the management team. Anytime I can share information and brainstorm ideas with Snead State partners and stakeholders is a privilege. It opens the door to new ideas as well as potential solutions to challenges we’re facing. Overall, the conversation focused on student success, which is a priority for the College,” said Dr. Whitmore.
