Tutoring

Testing Center

Programs and services offered at the Testing Center (TC) are designed to enhance learning skills and help our students succeed. Academic support services are available to help all Snead State students improve academic performance and:

  • Succeed in SSCC courses
  • Improve study techniques
  • Improve testing skills
  • Improve interview skills
  • Improve time management
  • Improve reading proficiency

TRiO Programs

TRiO Programs support the nation’s commitment to provide the opportunity for all Americans to go to college, graduate, and participate in realizing “America’s Economic and Social Dream”. These Federal programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

TRiO Student Support Services

The TRiO Student Support Services program helps low-income, disabled and/or first generation college students to remain in college until they earn their associate degree and transfer to a four-year institution.

TRiO Upward Bound

The TRiO Upward Bound program provides college preparatory services to low-income and first-generation college students. It ensures that participants successfully complete high school and are prepared to enter and successfully complete a post-secondary educational program.

Tutoring

One-On-One Tutoring

One-on-one tutoring is available by appointment to students who would like individual help with the following courses:

Individual tutoring in other courses is available upon request. Appointments may be scheduled through the Academic Success Center.

Small and Large Group Tutoring

Small and large group tutoring sessions are available to students in select courses. Sessions are peer-led and structured to give students more individual attention.

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is offered to students in a variety of courses through:

  • Khan Academy
  • Blackboard Student Class
  • Brainfuse
  • FaceTime
  • Skype

Student Success Workshops

Student success workshops help students improve and build the skill sets they need to be academically successful. Staff can also provide learning style and career assessments to students on an individual basis.

The Learning Resource Lab provides student access to materials and resources, such as the computer lab, online tutoring, syllabi and review materials for select courses.
