Parson Days Virtual Orientation

Step One – Confirm all of your admissions documents have been received.

Students can check their admissions checklist and find their acceptance letter by logging into the application portal at Snead.edu/apply. mySnead is the access point to your student records and information at SSCC. This is where you will register for classes, withdraw from classes, view admissions information, find financial aid records, access your grades, view/print/request academic transcripts, and many other things while you are a student. You need to check to make sure we have received your residency form, photo identification and your final high school transcript. The first step for you to complete is to sign-in to mySnead using your student number, which is the same as your student email.

Your email address is your full student number with @alabama.edu (AXXXXXXXX@alabama.edu). This means your mySnead login will be your personal A number @alabama.edu. Once you claim your alabama.edu account, you will be prompted to set up a password that you will use to login to mySnead.

Trouble logging in? Please email it-team@snead.edu, and be sure to include your full name, your A number and your date of birth.

Check out this video for a quick how-to on signing in to mySnead.

Step Two – Confirm all of your financial aid documents have been received.

Next up, be sure you have completed all of the financial aid requirements on your mySnead account.

Step Three – Check your program of study.

Check your major by logging into MySnead, and clicking on “Student Profile” on the “Student Services Links” card. Under “Curriculum, Hours & GPA” the Primary tab will reflect your major.

Step Four – Complete and print your Alabama Transfers Guide.

Students at Snead State who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university in the state of Alabama will need to print and follow an Alabama Transfers Guide. Login to your student application portal at snead.edu/apply and click on Alabama Transfers, or go to alabamatransfers.com to find the guide and print it. Be sure to have your Alabama Transfers Guide on hand for your advising session in step 5.

Step Five – Sign up for an advising session.

Once you’ve completed the first four steps, it’s time to connect with an advisor to determine which classes you need to take this Fall. Email the Snead State Advising Center at advising@snead.edu, or visit the Advising Center in person in Room 103 of the Story Administration Building, located at 220 North Walnut Street, Boaz.

Step Six – Met with your advisor? Now, let’s register for classes!

Once you have printed your Alabama Transfers Guide and met with your advisor, it’s time to register for classes! We have a great video that shows you step-by-step how to add classes to your fall schedule. If you have any questions or run into trouble trying to register for classes, just email studentservices@snead.edu. Be sure to include your student number in the email!

First, you’ll need to login to mySnead. Then, follow the steps in our video below to register.

Step Seven – Pay for classes.

Once you’ve registered, you can view your balance on your mySnead account. Here, you can pay for classes online, in person at our business office or by signing up for a payment plan. You should secure payment for classes when you register. The College sets certain dates on the academic calendar when your classes must be paid for so they aren’t dropped. These are called drop dates.

2025-2026 Academic Calendar

You can view your balance and make a payment by logging into your mySnead account. Once you’ve logged into mySnead, follow these steps:

  • Select Snead State Community College from the drop-down menu.
  • Click on students.
  • Select view account and make payments.
  • Click on account detail for term.
  • Select the correct semester. The field Account Balance net of Authorized Financial Aid will display account balances after all anticipated financial aid has been applied.

Questions about paying for your fall classes? You can email businessoffice@snead.edu.

Step Eight – Buy your books!

The last step in our Parson Days checklist is buying your books and materials from the Snead State Bookstore.

To aid you in the process, the Snead State Bookstore has Parson BooksPlus, a course material delivery program that provides access to students’ required course materials in a convenient package before the first day of class. All required course materials are included as a $24 per credit hour charge on your student account at a savings of 35-50%.

How Parson BooksPlus Works:

  • Students register for classes.
  • One month before classes start, students will receive an email instructing them to review their courses and choose how to receive their materials.
  • The bookstore will prepare students’ course materials in a convenient package.
  • Students will receive an email notification when their order is ready for pickup at the bookstore or when it ships, depending on their selection.
  • Students’ digital materials will be delivered within Blackboard.
  • When students’ courses are over, the bookstore will send helpful reminder emails to return their rental course materials.
  • Students who do not wish to participate must opt out each semester, but once a student opts out, they have opted out of all classes for that semester. Students may not opt out of an individual class.

Learn more about Parson BooksPlus HERE.

If you choose to opt out of Parson BooksPlus, you can buy books yourself. Here’s another step-by-step video below about buying your textbooks and materials for your fall classes.

Did you have an IEP or 504 in high school?

We are committed to providing programs and services that are accessible to students with disabilities.
