Parson Days Virtual Orientation

Welcome to your virtual Parson Days session! Here you’ll find the same valuable information that you receive on campus at Parson Days. Keep scrolling to find step-by-step directions for virtual orientation. By the time you’ve completed all of the steps, you’ll be ready to register for classes!

Step One – Confirm all of your admissions documents have been received.

OneACCS is the access point to your student records and information at SSCC. This is where you will register for classes, withdraw from classes, view admissions information, find financial aid records, access your grades, view/print/request academic transcripts, and many other things while you are a student. You need to check to make sure we have received your residency form, photo identification and your final high school transcript. The first step for you to complete is to sign-in to OneACCS using your student number, which is the same as your student email.

Your email address is your full student number AXXXXXXXX@snead.edu. This means your ACCS login will be your personal A number @snead.edu. Your default password is !SNEADMMDDYY with the MMDDYY being your birthdate. This does include in the exclamation point.

Trouble logging in? Please email jerri.gullion@snead.edu, and be sure to include your full name and your date of birth.

Check out this video for a quick how-to on signing in to OneACCS and checking your admission documents.

Step Two – Confirm all of your financial aid documents have been received.

Next up, be sure you have completed all of the financial aid requirements on your OneACCS account.

Step Three – Check your program of study.

Now, let’s check your program of study, or pathways as we call them, on OneACCS. Your advisor is determined based on your pathway. So, it’s important we have the correct major listed for you.

Check Your Major

Change of Major

Changed your mind about your program of study since you applied to Snead State? No problem! If you need to change your major, please complete the change of program of study form and email it to studentservices@snead.edu.

Step Four – Complete and print your Alabama Transfers Guide.

Students at Snead State who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university in the state of Alabama will need to print and follow an Alabama Transfers Guide. Login to your student application portal at snead.edu/apply and click on Alabama Transfers, or go to alabamatransfers.com to find the guide and print it. Be sure to have your Alabama Transfers Guide on hand for your advising session in step 5.

Step Five – Sign up for an advising session.

Once you’ve completed the first four steps, it’s time to sign up for an advising session. During your advising session, you’ll have a meeting with an advisor to determine which classes you need to take this fall.

To schedule an advising session, contact the Snead State Advising Center at advising@snead.edu. Or, visit the Advising Center in person, which is located in the Story Administration Building, Room #103.

Program Information

At Snead State, we are committed to helping you succeed. We provide many opportunities for you to partner with us as you work toward achieving your goals. We can help you be whatever it is you want to be! We offer degree programs that prepare you to enter the workforce upon completion, and we also offer degree programs that prepare you for further study after you have completed your degree at Snead State. You can check out our different programs below and the majors that fall within each program.

Sign-Up for Advising

Next stop…it’s time to sign up for an advising appointment.

Schedule a Virtual Advising appointment

For a live, online meeting, schedule an appointment through the website, and you will receive a confirmation email containing a “Join Teams Meeting” button that you will use at the time of the appointment to join the web conference with your advisor. The Microsoft Teams web conferencing app works with PCs and Macs as well as with a number of current web browsers.

NOTE: You will need a webcam, microphone, and speakers/headset to communicate with your advisor during the advising appointment.

Step Six – Met with your advisor? Now, let’s register for classes!

Once you have printed your Alabama Transfers Guide and met with your advisor, it’s time to register for classes! We have a great video that shows you step-by-step how to add classes to your fall schedule. If you have any questions or run into trouble trying to register for classes, just email studentservices@snead.edu. Be sure to include your student number in the email!

First, you’ll need to login to OneACCS. Then, follow the steps in our video below to register.

Step Seven – Pay for classes.

Once you’ve registered, you can view your balance on your OneACCS account. Here, you can pay for classes online, in person at our business office or by signing up for a payment plan. You should secure payment for classes when you register. The College sets certain dates on the academic calendar when your classes must be paid for so they aren’t dropped. These are called drop dates.

You can view your balance and make a payment by logging into your OneACCS account. Once you’ve logged into OneACCS, follow these steps:

  • Click on students.
  • Select view account and make payments.
  • Click on account detail for term.

You can also download the OneACCS app, and pay for your classes through it. Find out more by watching the video below.

Step Eight – Buy your books!

The last step in our Parson Days checklist is buying your books and materials from the Snead State Bookstore.

New to Snead State this year is Parson BooksPlus, a new course material delivery program that provides access to students’ required course materials in a convenient package before the first day of class. With this new program, all required course materials are included as a $24 per credit hour charge on your student account at a savings of 35-50%.

How Parson BooksPlus Works:

  • Students register for classes.
  • One month before classes start, students will receive an email instructing them to review their courses and choose how to receive their materials.
  • The bookstore will prepare students’ course materials in a convenient package.
  • Students will receive an email notification when their order is ready for pickup at the bookstore or when it ships, depending on their selection.
  • Students’ digital materials will be delivered within Blackboard.
  • When students’ courses are over, the bookstore will send helpful reminder emails to return their rental course materials.
  • Students who do not wish to participate must opt out each semester, but once a student opts out, they have opted out of all classes for that semester. Students may not opt out of an individual class.

Learn more about Parson BooksPlus HERE.

If you choose to opt out of Parson BooksPlus, you can buy books yourself. Here’s another step-by-step video below about buying your textbooks and materials for your fall classes.

Questions about books or materials? You can email sm8017@bncollege.com.

KEEP SCROLLING! There’s a few things we need you to complete before the first day of classes.

Login to Blackboard

Blackboard is an online learning management software that we use to deliver online classes to our students. In addition to online courses, it’s also used in on-campus courses. The first official day of classes is Monday, Aug. 21st. Courses will not show up on Blackboard before this date. On your first day, please be sure to read your syllabus thoroughly and complete your attendance verification during the first week of class.

  1. You will access Blackboard here.
  2. You will not enter your username and password on the Blackboard login page. Instead, click the “Sign in with third-party account” drop-down menu and select SSCC.
  3. When the Ellucian login page appears, enter your OneACCS username and password. Your username should be your official Snead State email address, including the “@snead.edu”. Your default OneACCS password was !SNEADmmddyy where the mmddyy is your six-digit date of birth. (You must include the ! as the first character of the default password.)

Be sure to check out our short video below about Blackboard! Having trouble logging into Blackboard? Email DL@snead.edu. Please be sure to include your A# and your date of birth. Please note that student’s account in Blackboard is not created until after the student registers for classes. It will then be created within one business day.
