Snead State Congratulates Scholarship Recipients

Snead State Community College congratulates all recipients of scholarships to attend during the 2016-2017 academic year, beginning with start of the fall semester in August. Some of those scholarship recipients include the following:

ALBERTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Tyler Collins plans to major in Associate in Management. He received a General Scholarship. He is the son of Jeff and Dawn Collins. While attending high school, Tyler participated in activities such as baseball and the football. His awards in football include Offensive MVP Team Captain, Paul McAbee Spirit of the Aggie, Most Valuable Back, All County and All Region Running Back. He had 1200 rushing yards and 700 receiving yards his senior year.    

Mia Lotter plans to major in Nursing. She received a Snead scholarship. She is the daughter of Eric and Karen Lotter. While in high school, Mia played tennis and was a cheerleader.  

Taylor Fann received a General Scholarship. He is the daughter of Jennifer Shelton and Ashley Fann. While in high school, Taylor participated on the football team for four years. He was in the Hometown Newspapers, Sand Mountain reporter and Advertiser Gleam for his achievements on the football team. 

Alexandra Jane Blackstone received a Presidential Honors Scholarship. A graduate of Albertville High School, she is the daughter of Kim Garrison Blackstone and Larry Blackstone.

ALTOONA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Isabella Golden plans to major in Computer Science. She received a Service Scholarship from Snead State Community College. She is the daughter of Danny and Jennifer Golden. Isabella’s activities in high school included SGA, FBLA, Spanish Club, Senior Beta, Jr Civitans, Spanish, and Mu Alpha Theta. Her awards include the DAR Scholarship, Top 10 percent, and the Academic Diploma.


ARAB HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Luke Townsend plans to major in Music. He received a Jazz Band Scholarship. He is the son of George and Lesa Townsend. While in high school, Luke participated in the Arab Jazz Band and Symphonic Band. 

Anna Leigh Isom plans to major in Public Relations. She received a Snead Scholarship. She is the daughter of Mike and Rochelle Isom. While in high school, Anna Leigh has participated in numerous high school extracurricular activities such as Student Council for four years, band for three years, color guard for three years, and Dana’s Dance Unlimited Student- Jazz, ballet, hip hop, and baton for two years. She was also a member of the Interact Club for one year, fellowship of Christian Athletes for four years, Diamond Doll for four years, Spirit Club for one year, and Spirit Club Secretary her senior year. She was named Miss FBLA her 11th grade year.

Anna also participated in activities such as LIFT- Loving Everyone for Themselves Club (Supporting Special needs Students), Charter Member for 2 years, Arab Musical Theater for three years, international Thespian for 3 years, Zombie Concert Singer/dancer for 2 years, Principal Dancer- Suessical the Musical her 10th grade year, Bye Bye Birdie her 11th grade year, Zombie Prom her 12th grad year, Tarzan her senior year Supporting role of Mrs. McCarthy in Best Christmas Pageant Ever her 11th grade year, Lead Role of Imogene Herdman in Best Christmas Pageant ever her 12th grade year, Supporting Role of Sheila in Zombie Prom !2th grade Director/Choreographer for AJHS production for High School Musical Jr 12th grade  homecoming Week Festivities for four years, Spring Fling Week Festivities for four years, Powder Puff Game for two years, Generations Footwear – Sales, public relations, visual displays, advertising, customer service for two years, Babysitting/ Child Care for four years, top 15 Miss Arab her 9th and 10th grade year, Top 10 Miss Arab her 12th grade year. Church/Community Service, National Missions- Indiana 9th grade year, International Missions- Nicaragua 10th grade year, Speaker at Arab for FBC on behalf of Nicaragua Mission Team 10th grade testimony given at Arab FBC during farewell service for youth minister her 12th grade year, testimony given at numerous Arab FBC Youth Events Preformed Christmas skit with Pastor at Arab FBC senior year. She was involved in Disciple Now for four years, Vacation Bible School for four years, and worship Kids Style Leader her senior year. Anna was also the Girls in Action Summer Camp Leader for two years, Arab First Baptist Church Youth Leadership Committee for three years, she was involved in Arab’s First Baptist Church Youth Praise Band for four years, Baptist Summer Retreat Leader her 11th and 12th grade year. Thanksgiving Outreach for four years, she was the Teen Bible Study leader for three years, FCA Community Youth Rally for two years, Community Fall Festival for two years, she also worked the Concession/Gate keeper for four years. Anna was a Distinguished Young Women Little Sister for two years, and little Miss Arab representative for little Miss Arab her senior year.

Anna has also received the following awards: Junior Beta Club her ninth grade year, beta Club her 10th,11th, and 12th grade year, A-B Honor Roll all four years, FBLA State qualifier-Desktop Publishing for two years, Sophomore HC Attendant 10th grade year and Senior HC attendant, She was also voted Arab’s senior Who’s Who- Friendliest, Miss Congeniality in Miss Arab, State Thespian Qualifier in  Zombie Prom her senior year, State Thespian Festival-Main Stage, Zombie Prom-Samford University in 12th grade, International Thespian Festival- Main stage, Zombie Prom- Nebraska her senior year, and People to People Nominee her 9th and 10th grade years. Anna also received a certification in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Illustrator.

ETOWAH HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Makayla Griffith plans to major in Elementary Education. She has received a College Street Singers Scholarship. She is the daughter of Patricia and Tommy Griffith. While in high school, Makayla was drum major for her high school band for two years.

BOAZ HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Charlie Fugate plans to major in Criminal Justice. She received $500 from Snead State Community College. She is the daughter of Danny Baker Stacey Stacy. Her activities in high school were theatre and art.

Camdyn Craft plans to major in Nursing. She received an Academic Achievement Scholarship. She is the daughter of Lonnie Craft and Destin Craft. While in high school, Camdyn participated in numerous high school activities such as Boaz National Honor Society 2015-2016, volunteered at the Second Chance Animal Shelter, Volunteer Activity Supervisor 2015-2016 Boaz Golden Living Center, Varsity Cheerleader in 2013-2014, National Junior Honor Society 2012-2014, JV Cheer 2012-2014, Gymnastics 2010-2015, and JV Volleyball 2012-1013. Her awards include Valedictorian 2016, Educational Scholarship from Electric Cooperative Foundation, INC. 2016, Snead Academic Achievement Scholarship 2016, Top 10% Academic Rank- 4 years standing, and A Honor Roll- 4 years standing. Hometown Newspapers include Sand Mountain Reporter and Gadsden Times.  

CROSSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Caleb Bailey plans to major in Social Science Composite Secondary Education. He received the Presidential Honors Scholarship from Snead State Community College. He is the son of Dale and Karen Bailey. His activities in high school included being on the basketball team for four years and the soccer team for one year. He was awarded onto the All County Tournament Team, All Area Team, and the position of TGIF Leader.

GUNTERSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Tykeesha Harris has received a General Scholarship. She is the daughter of Brenda Harris. While in high school, Tykeesha was a cheerleader. 

Jermisha Harris plans to major in Juvenile Criminal Justice. She has received a General Scholarship. She is the daughter of Brenda Harris. While in high school, Jermisha was a cheerleader. 

Alyssa Bass plans to major in Information Assurance. She has received an Academic Achievement Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ken and Janice Bass. While in high school, Alyssa was on the volleyball, basketball, and golf team. Her awards include National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, and Senior Who’s Who Most Dependable.  

Jerrico Everhart plans to major in Nursing. He has received a General Scholarship. He is the son of Kurt and Cristina Everhart. While in high school. Jerrico was on the football, basketball, and baseball teams. 

RAINSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Colton James Bevel plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. He received an Academic Scholarship from Snead State Community College. He is the son of Micky and Sherry Bevel. His activities in high school include being a member of the Beta Club, Science Club, Spanish Club, SADD, Mu Alpha Theta, Varsity Baseball team for four years, and the Varsity Football team his senior year. Colton was awarded the Sand Mountain Electric Coop Scholarship, Rainsville Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, U.S Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, and was named to All County Baseball Team. 

SARDIS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Victoria Elizabeth Clay plans to major in Nursing. She received a Service Scholarship from Snead State Community College. She is the daughter of James and Candace Clay. Her activities in high school included going bowling, shopping, and going the movies with her friends. She received the Program Concentrator Award, the FCCLA and FBLA Membership Association Award, and the Spanish Association Award.

Audrey Ross, a graduate of Sardis High School, received an Academic Achievement scholarship. She is the daughter of Chris and Amy Ross. During her high school years, she played tennis for five years and was a member of the cross country team for two years.


SUSAN MOORE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Caleb Luke Adams plans to major in Spanish. He received a General Scholarship from Snead State Community College. He is the son of Darrell Dwain Adams and Jennifer Hancock Adams. Caleb played on the high school soccer team and was also awarded most improved student in the Beta Club.  


GERALDINE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

Erica Nicole Williams plans to major in Pharmacy. She has received a General Scholarship. She is the daughter of Van and Patti Williams. While in high school, Erica was a varsity cheerleader for four years, co-captain her 10th and 11th grade year, captain her senior year, Ace All-Star Competitive Cheerleading, Liberty Baptist Church Praise Band, church league softball team, Senior Beta Club, CIA, Science Club, SGA, FCCLA, FBLA, FFA, and TGIF. Her awards include Valedictorian, Miss Beta, Senior Beta Club President, SGA Chaplin, FCCLA President, Science Club Treasurer, Senior Class Favorite, Who’s Who Most Likely to Succeed, UCA All-American Cheerleader for three years, All-County cheerleader for 3 years, Wendy’s High School Heisman School Winner, University of Alabama To Kill a Mockingbird Essay school winner, DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District Essay (second in the county), US Cheer Finals Champion, and The One Cheer Finals Champion.
