This spring, the Snead State Theatre Department will be performing William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” as part of the Spring Theatre Tour.
In “The Merchant of Venice,” Antonio, the Christian Merchant, enters a bond with Shylock, the Jewish moneylender. If Antonio’s ships don’t return with payment, Shylock is granted a point of Antonio’s “fair flesh.”
The first performance will be Thursday, March 6, at 11 a.m. in the Story Administration Building on Snead State campus. The Theatre Department will take the show to the Boaz Public Library for a 3:15 p.m. presentation on Friday, March 7. Last, the program will have one final show in the Story Administration Building on Saturday, March 15, at 2 p.m.
Admission is free, but donations to support the Theatre Program are welcome.
