Snead State Guitar Ensemble Presents First Concert

The Guitar Ensemble at Snead State Community College welcomes guest artists to perform at the ensemble’s first concert.

The concert is on Saturday, March 28, at 3 p.m. in Fielder Auditorium, located in the Story Administration Building at 220 North Walnut Street on the Boaz campus.

The concert will feature solos, duets, and larger ensemble pieces. The Guitar Ensemble is led by Director Taylor Goodwin, an instructor at Snead State. Goodwin has been playing as a freelance professional with a wide variety of bands and artists for over a decade. He received a Bachelor in Music Technology degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2016 and a Master in Commercial Music degree from Belmont University in 2018. While teaching at Snead State, Taylor maintains a nationwide performance schedule, playing regularly with Nashville country act Matt Bennett as well as Alabama-based Winston Ramble.

The group will also be joined by Snead State Music Instructor Dr. Kathleen Ruhleder, who has performed as a vocal soloist with several orchestras, has sung in professional opera choruses and choirs and performed in musicals professionally. She has played the guitar for enjoyment and to lead worship and children’s music since the seventh grade.

Guest performers John Kulinich and Ryan Brown will also perform during the concert.

John Kulinich is a Birmingham-based professional guitarist. He has performed for decades throughout the United States and the world with artists including Rollin’ In The Hay & Taylor Hicks among many others.

Ryan Brown is another Birmingham-based professional musician, specializing in bass and hybrid seven-string guitar. Brown has extensive nationwide touring and recording experience and is a first call bass player for elite artists and musicians statewide. He regularly performs with the Alabama based comedy-bluegrass act Yellow Dandies as well as with the rock band Winston Ramble.

Admission is free to the Guitar Ensemble concert, and the community is invited to attend.
