The Snead State Community College Fishing Team has celebrated a successful 2024 season so far, earning them a Top 10 percent ranking in the Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) standings.

The team’s most recent success came during the Auburn University Tournament on Lake Martin held on Sunday, Oct. 27. Snead State’s anglers placed strong among the 37 teams participating. Team members Mason George of Albertville and Carter Maples of Boaz placed fourth, while Walker Griffith of Ashville and Brady McCamy of Albertville followed close behind in sixth place. Reece Knight of Albertville and Sean Baugh of Boaz rounded out the top ten with a strong ninth-place finish. Other colleges represented at the tournament included Faulkner University, Auburn University, Central Alabama Community College, and Mississippi State.
“Our anglers have put in a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication,” said Team Sponsor Dr. Tom Warren. “They’ve consistently competed at a high level this season, proving that their preparation and commitment have truly paid off.”
The team’s success on Lake Martin was only the latest in a recent series of impressive finishes. In the Auburn ACA Tournament in September, Knight and George earned a third-place finish out of 50 teams. George also placed seventh in Session 3 out of 500 anglers in the Collegiate Kentucky Lake Tournament. Later in the month, Knight and George placed ninth in the Montevallo ACA Tournament.
The Snead State Fishing earned their 34th place ranking with the ACA out of 385 teams throughout the United States.
