Snead State Community College Celebrates RN Class of 2025

An atmosphere of triumph and celebration filled the Plunkett-Wallace Gymnasium on Tuesday, May 6, as 32 Snead State Community College students received their pins for completing the Registered Nursing Program.

“Tonight, we gather to celebrate not just an academic achievement, but what I believe to be a sacred calling. You have completed a rigorous journey of study, perseverance, and service. As you receive your nursing pin, we do more than mark the end of your training. We recognize the beginning of your ministry in healing,” said Snead State President Dr. Joe Whitmore.

The annual RN Pinning Ceremony, hosted by the Snead State Health Science Department, was a fitting kick-off to National Nurses Week. In his remarks to the nursing graduates, Dr. Whitmore reminded them of why their role is a critical one.

“Each of you will walk into rooms where people are at their most vulnerable. You will be a source of strength to families who are waiting. You will be a voice for those who cannot speak. You will bring light into some of the darkest places. And at times, it will not be easy. There will be shifts that feel overwhelming, losses that weigh heavily, and moments that will test your resolve. But do not be discouraged. Go forward with boldness. You are not only trained. You are called,” said Dr. Whitmore.

“Every chart you write, every vital sign you check, every word of comfort you offer, matters. Even when the work is hard – and it will be – you are not alone. Your faith is with you and will bring you strength and encouragement. Know that deep down, you are prepared for this.”

The preparation and hard work of two particular student nurses were also recognized during the Pinning Ceremony. Gavin Williams of Gadsden received the Award for Clinical Excellence. Dillon Benson of Albertville received the Award for Academic Excellence.
