Snead State Community College has extended the deadline for two scholarship opportunities available through the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways.
Students now have until 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, to apply for the Industrial Systems Technology Scholarship and the Welding Career Track scholarship.
The Industrial Systems Technology Scholarship provides for three courses for training as a manufacturing systems technician. Students will learn basic control systems and have the opportunity to earn an industry certification as a Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Safety Technician. Careers are available for system technicians in many manufacturing and production companies. The high-demand positions allow students to potentially earn an average salary of $52,000 annually.
The scholarship for the Welding Career Track, which is part of the Industrial Systems Technology program, provides for three courses for training as a welding technician. Students will learn basic and intermediate welding and cutting concepts, which lead to a certification as an American Welding Society (AWS) certified welder. Welder and fabricators find employment in various companies and industries. Also high-demand positions, welders potentially earn an average salary of $50,000 annually.
