The Snead State baseball team will host a free baseball camp on Sunday, April 12, from 2-4 p.m. at the Boaz Recreation baseball fields across from Boaz Elementary School.
The camp is open to children ages 5-13 and will be led by Snead State players and coaches, including Marshall County Sports Hall of Fame Coach Gerry Ledbetter and Assistant Coaches Casey Underwood and Jerry Wayne Hallmark.
Participants should bring their own equipment. The camp will concentrate on hitting, catching and fielding.
Retired Jacksonville State University baseball coach Rudy Abbott will speak to the parents during the camp as well. Coach Abbott served as the Gamecocks’ head coach from 1970-2001 and has all-time record of 1003-467. He coached the Jacksonville State baseball teams to NCAA Division II national championships in 1990 and 1991. Seven of his teams advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series.
In the event of rain, the camp will be moved inside at the Boaz Recreation Center Gym.
