The Associate degree in Child Development is accepted by most four-year institutions for transfer credit for continuing in the field of child development or Family and Consumer Science programs. An Associate degree in Early Childhood Education that transfers to Athens State University is a hybrid of the child development/early childhood education program that prepares students for a career in either child development or early childhood education. Careers in the Early Childhood field have an earning potential of $22,338 for teachers assistants, $39,915 for preschool directors, or $27,000-$45,000 for Pre-K or kindergarten teachers. Please visit the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook for more information about a career in this field: http://www.bls.gov/ooh/education-training-and-library/teacher-assistants.htm.

Snead State offers scholarships for Child Development majors, and Pell grants are available to eligible students. Other scholarships include Leadership in Child Care for those employed in child care facilities and TEACH scholarships.
